1862 LIBERTY HEAD $2.5 PCGS PR66 Deep Cameo

This 1862 Liberty Head quarter eagle is a Gem Proof Deep Cameo certified PCGS PR66, distinguished by the supplied Trompeter pedigree. The note records a Proof mintage of only 35 pieces and describes deep mirrored fields with cameo contrast, placing the coin squarely among the important Civil War-era Proof gold issues. Proof quarter eagles of the period were produced for a very small collector base, and survival is far below already limited mintages. The Trompeter association adds recognized numismatic provenance. Its reported status as the only PCGS Deep Cameo example further emphasizes the coin's technical importance.
