Coin Description

The 1870-S LIBERTY HEAD $2.5, certified MS63+ by PCGS, is an appealing example within its respective series. A pleasing presentation comes through active luster; high-grade preservation, with the assigned grade supporting the overall quality. The quarter eagle format gives the issue significance within U.S. gold collecting, where date, mintmark, and certified quality are carefully differentiated. The reported census of 1 at this grade and 2 finer underscores its limited certified availability. Within U.S. gold, the piece stands out for the balance of grade, history, and specific issue scarcity.
