1870 S$1 J-996 PCGS PR64

PCGS PR64 1870 silver dollar J-996 presents as a Choice Proof example with carefully preserved proof surfaces. As a pattern issue, it records the Mint’s active experimentation with design, denomination, composition, and national iconography. Attribution specialists will note J-996, Rarity-7. Rarity context is especially important: just a single coin has been graded higher by PCGS. For proof gold and silver collectors, surface preservation and finish are often as important as the numeric grade. Collectors pursuing the series at an advanced level will recognize the importance of grade, attribution, and surface quality here.
