It's almost always on the forefront of everyone's mind, but people who attend the Whitman Coin and Collectibles Atlanta Expo are real money lovers.
Organizers expect up to 5,000 people — dealers, collectors and money lovers from across the country.
The coins come from all over the world and from various eras. The show will exhibit the famous King Siam set estimated to be worth about $8 million. The set was presented to the King of Siam in 1836 on behalf of President Andrew Jackson; it features the 1804 silver dollar.
The Whitman Show provides free appraisals of coins and currency. It also has special programs for young collectors. It starts today at the Cobb Galleria Centre and runs through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Free. Information: www.whitmanexpo.com.
