SUNNYVALE, Calif. (AP) - A 215-year-old coin that was part of the first batch of coins produced by the U-S Mint has sold for one-point-five (m) million dollars.
A coin expert says the half-dime is in near perfect condition.
The coin is a combination of silver and copper and is smaller than the modern dime. It was part of a batch of 15-hundred coins struck even before the mint building was constructed.
The Sunnyvale-based Cardinal Collection Educational Foundation purchased the coin. The group plans on showing the coin at the World's Fair of Money next month in Wisconsin.
