Steve Contursi, President of Rare Coin Wholesalers, paid $2.76 million Friday for a 1907 gold coin that experts have called the most beautiful in U.S. currency.

Steven L. Contursi dropped the $8.5 million check onto the counter Tuesday before handing it over - just to make sure it wouldn't bounce.

The 1787 doubloon he purchased for nearly $3 million is on display at Long Beach Expo.
