(Santa Clara, CA) - One of the four known proof 1803 Draped Bust silver dollars will be the featured exhibit at the Santa Clara Coin, Stamp & Collectibles Expo in the Santa Clara, California Convention Center, 5100 Great America Parkway, November 17 - 20, 2005.
"It's an exquisite example from the famous Cardinal Collection, and graded PCGS Proof 66 cameo," said Ronald J. Gillio, Expo General Chairman.
"The coin is insured for $1 million, and will be displayed during the first three days of the show courtesy of Steven L. Contursi, the President of Rare Coin Wholesalers of Dana Point, California."
The proof 1803 dollar that will be exhibited is described as Bolender-7, Large 3 Draped Bust dollar with Heraldic Eagle reverse.
"Researchers are not sure exactly when the 1803 proof dollars were produced, but most agree it was in the mid 1800's. It is believed no more than ten were struck at the Philadelphia Mint, but only four surviving examples are known today," said Gillio.
